Frequently Asked Questions
1. I'm new to Yoga. What classes would be appropriate for me to attend?
First, I highly recommend the Intro to Yoga session as this will give you a firm foundation and understanding of how to do the postures. If the session is full (they fill up fast), or if the time doesn't work for you, drop us a line or give us a call to express your concerns. We'd be happy to help you find a good fit.
2. What should I bring to class?
Mats can be rented for $2; however, for hygienic reasons, we encourage students to buy their own mat. We do sell mats at the studio. Wear comfortable clothing, although pants that are too loose make it hard for teachers to know if you're practicing with good alignment, and shirts that are too loose can be annoying in some postures. Yoga is practiced in Bare Feet. Please leave your socks at the door.
3. I'm really tight and inflexible. Will I be out of place in class?
Not at all!!! We all feel tension in some areas of our body. Remember, the practice of yoga is about so much more than bendy postures.
4. I'm pregnant/have back pain/shoulder instability/other therapeutic concerns. Can I still attend class?
Please
email me directly so that we can discuss a class option that would suit you best. Yoga is available to Every Body.
5. Can I use my class card to register for the intro or any other pre-registered classes?
You cannot use a class card to register for a session; however, if there is space available, you can drop into a pre-registered class using your class card. We update the web to let you know when sessions are full. The
Intro to Yoga class, in particular, fills up quite quickly, and often drop-ins for these sessions are not available.
6. Do I need to call ahead of time to book my spot in a class?
Nope! You just come on by (pre-registered classes not included.) If this is your first class, please come about 10 minutes early to fill out paperwork.
In addition, we ask that you respect the following:
- Dispose of chewing gum before class
- Leave cell phones in the car or at home. It’s easy to forget to turn them off
- Keep chatting to a minimum, as we do wish to cultivate a peaceful environment
- Bring bags, purses, and clothes to the back room. We have plenty of space in the change room and this allows for less clutter in the practice area.
We look forward to meeting you on the mat!
Namasté,
Eryn

Hatha Yoga is not physical therapy, per se. All of our instructors have taken above and beyond the required 200 hours of intensive training to acquire their teacher certification. We are, however, not physiotherapists or health care specialists. We do not diagnose physical ailments. If you are dealing with a specific health concern or problem, please consult your doctor before practicing yoga. Be aware of your own physical limitations, as we teach generalized classes designed for a group setting (except, of course, for private yoga). It is imperative that you listen to your own bodys’ needs. Although Hatha Yoga most certainly has a therapeutic effect when done properly and has helped countless people reduce pain and lead much improved lives, group classes are not in and of themselves designed to treat specific issues.
For people with injuries and/or chronic pain, Goodnight Hatha with Terri and Gentle Yoga with Eric are your best options.
